WHO WAS HE?
Henri Matisse was studying to be a lawyer when he got sick and his mother gave him a box of paints to pass the time. He never went back to law. Late in life, when he was too ill to stand at an easel, he cut shapes out of coloured paper instead and made some of his most famous work.
